Regional Workshop ‘REDD-plus After Cancun: Moving from Negotiation to Implementation’

On May 18 to 20 the World Agroforestry Centre Vietnam, the Alternatives to Slash and Burn Partnership for the Tropical Forest Margins, and the International Institute for Sustainable Development will host a regional workshop on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD-plus).

‘REDD-plus After Cancun: Moving from Negotiation to Implementation’ will help negotiators and stakeholders develop processes for REDD-plus at the national, regional and international level. Participants includes REDD negotiators and land managers from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Philippines, Vanuatu and Viet Nam.

During the workshop participants will gain a deeper understanding of policy and technical issues related to REDD-plus, including: addressing and respecting safeguards; encouraging co-benefits; measurement, reporting and verification; priorities and interests of UN-REDD and Forest Carbon Partnership Facility countries (areas of common and complementary concern and lessons learned from earlier action); and strategies for enhancing coordination across issue areas.
