President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to receive UNDP Administrator Helen Clark at the presidential palace complex here Thursday. In the meeting, they are expected to discuss global, regional and national development issues.
The UNDP Administrator is visiting Indonesia from April 26 to 29,2011. Her agenda included a visit to Central Kalimantan to see the preparations for REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) implementation.
She is also a keynote speaker in the Business for the Environment (B4E) Global Summit 2011. Helen Clark, former prime minister of New Zealand during the 1999-2008 period, is the first female UNDP administrator.
She has been holding the UNDP administrator post since April 17, 2009. She is also Chair of the United Nations Development Group. The UN Development Group (UNDG) unites the 32 UN funds, programmes, agencies, departments, and offices that play a role in development.
The group’s common objective is to deliver more coherent, effective and efficient support to countries seeking to attain internationally agreed development goals, including the Millennium Development Goals. Established by the Secretary-General in 1997, the UNDG designs system-wide guidance to coordinate, harmonize and align UN development activities.
