CARE International Indonesia (CII), as an international NGO, has carried out large scale operations in Indonesia, encompassing emergency operations, transitional activities centered on agriculture and nutrition and a range of development initiatives in such areas as water and sanitation, health and micro-credit.

CARE Indonesia in Kapuas is currently recruiting the following position for its project:

Job title : Community Engagement Field Officer
Departement/Project : Project/KFCP
Reports to : Project Officer

The Community Engagement Field Officer will play a key role in community engagement as the interface between the project and villagers. With the support from the Project Officers, they will build engagement with the local communities to ensure high levels of collaboration and involvement in KFCP village level activities. The Community Engagement Field Officer will be assist (mentor village facilitators and/or facilitate) the village in analyzing village needs in general and through the framework of REDD and KFCP activities and benefits and develop village plans. The Community Engagement Field Officer will then collaborate with KFCP specialists in the implementation of KFCP activities (such as livelihood development, fire preventions, reforestation and canal blocking) and will also manage the delivery of KFCP and REDD messages to communities and local government (village and sub-district levels) to raise awareness, although this is a non supervisory role.

TheCommunity EngagementField Officer will spend the majority of their time in the villages they are allocated to. They will return to to Palangka Raya once a month for meetings and coordination with other CARE and KFCP staff. They will report directly to the Project Officer.

Project implementation
a. Develop strong linkage between village government and communities in all KFCP activities and contract and provide capacity building to village goverments as requested.

b. Facilitate the development or review of village planning (Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Desa/RPJM-Desa dan Rencana Kegiatan Pembangunan Desa/RKP-Desa).

c. Promote and facilitate the implementation of alternative livelihoods which contribute to reduce GHG emission, monitor and evaluate the implementation accordingly.

d. Provide capacity building interventions to village groups, organizations, and government.

e. Undertake consultation activities with communities and act as liaison for the community in the area of responsibility for canal blocking, peatland forest restoration and protection, and reforestation of degraded areas, based on research and restoration strategy.

f. Assess the REDD impact on livelihood, poverty reduction, and gender aspects.

a. Coordinate CARE International Indonesia and KFCP initiatives with village and sub-district governments, and NGO’s operating within project location.

b. Develop strong linkage between village government and communities in all KFCP activities and contract and provide capacity building to village goverments as requested.

c. Assist the Program Officers and Community Engagement Specialists collaborate with sub-district and district governments.

d. Coordinating with KFCP Specialists, promote and facilitate the implementation of fire prevention awareness, capacity development, and behavior modification incentives.

Project administration
a. Submit administrative and project-based report to Project Officer regularly.

Perform additional assignments that will contribute to the basic function as requested by supervisor.

a. Familiar with CARE system is highly desirable.

f. Local speaking candidate is preferable.
